Il Folletto head chef and co-owner Robert Basso began his passion for creating delectable handmade desserts
early on in his childhood.
Born and raised in Italy, the young Robert was introduced to the art of baking by his Southern Italian parents,
who instilled in him a love for traditional and handmade desserts.
Under his parent’s watchful eye, he learned how to conjure up fine Italian sweet treats, such as handmade
ice-cream, pastries and cakes, with simple and uncomplicated ingredients. His love of Italian patisserie was further
nurtured during his training at Bergamo in Northern Italy, and perfected as he toured four and five star hotels
across Tuscany and London.
This knowledge and passion for the “sweet course” is evident in the selection of pastries, cakes and ice-cream
now on offer at Il Folletto. Be sure to leave room for dessert!
The restaurant is currently open at 5pm to 10pm Monday to Sunday.
During bank holiday weekends we open for lunch on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 1pm through to 10.30pm.
We open for lunch during the summer months usually from the beginning of June through to September.
